How My Plush Toys Are Made – A Behind-the-Scenes Look

From Idea to Finished Cuddly Toy
Every cuddly toy you find at Studio Hahn has a story – and that story begins long before it reaches your hands. In this article, I'll take you behind the scenes of my small studio in Hamburg and show you how I create a cuddly toy.
The Fabric Makes All the Difference
It all starts with the material. I exclusively use high-quality organic cotton – soft, skin-friendly, and sustainably produced. This is especially important to me, as my cuddly toys often come into close contact with babies' and small children's skin. I don't want to make any compromises there.
I carefully select the fabrics – based on quality, feel, and, of course, the right character for the respective animal.
Cut, Needle, Thread
I develop every pattern myself. Whether it's a cat, a whale, or a wolf – each shape is designed, adapted, and refined by me again and again until it looks exactly as I envision it.
Then it's time to sew: hand-cut, carefully sewn together, and stuffed with natural filling. No two pieces are exactly alike – that's the beauty of handmade work.
The Final Detail
Before a cuddly toy leaves my table, it's meticulously inspected one last time. Is everything in place? Is the seam secure? Does it feel good? Only when I am satisfied myself does it make its way to you.
I believe you can feel the difference – between a cuddly toy made with care and one that isn't. And that's exactly what I want to convey with every piece.
